Positives:
One of the main positive comment received was that the Editing is in Sync with song, and that the cinematography looks very very professional. Another point was that we have a range of shot types which we worked hard towards in storyboarding. Continuity of speed and filters used meant that the overall quality of the video was largely consistent. We were told by a few people that the story is rather well done because even though everyone did understand it they said that if someone did struggle to follow it they would still enjoy the video as the story is quite conceptual and strange. We still think that there is a few elements that we could add to make the narrative even stronger.
Negatives:
Luckily all of the negative points we received are all fixable in quite a easy way. First off we were told that we should add some diegetic sound to the start of the video where the song isn't present to add some realism and feel to it. Also we were told that the first 30 seconds or so, in general, doesn't really flow well as some of the cuts are longer than the should be. A few hiccups in some of the shots also did not go unnoticed, such as the shot at 01:00 in the video. This shot is in some senses ruined by the tree that jumps every time there is a jump cut. This is easily fixable.
Our teacher feels although the narrative could be even stronger and we have thought long and hard about what we could add in to give it a little more bite. We came up with a few ideas but as we were pushed for time we decided on a simple idea that could add so much more. We decided that if we add a sound effect of a car crash in before the video and maybe that could be the thing that is haunting him. We could leave it to the viewers mind to decide weather he has maybe killed someone in a car crash in the past or a loved one has died in one, either way they would both eat on any humans mind and this we feel adds a lot more to the narrative as a whole.
